This vintage swan saucière and ladle were designed for Christofle Gaillia by a Danish silversmith named Christian Fjerdingstad. He was hired by Christofle as a head designer in 1924 and was regarded as a key designer that contributed to the revival of early twentieth-century silverware. Christofle is a prestigious French flatware and silverware company. The Christofle company debuted a new type of plate named 'Gaillia metal' in 1900, during the Paris Exposition Universelle. This exquisite, silver-plated swan design is still one of Maison Christofle's most popular and admired pieces. With its elegant silhouette it can be used to serve hot sauces at the table. The saucière is a low oval shape and features an intentional indent where the ladle can be placed and adds a gourmet charm to a dinner setting. This piece is in good vintage condition.
